Read how Beta Thalassaemia is inherited

Thalassaemia is an inherited blood disorder. People who are affected by this illness are unable to make enough normal haemoglobin (Hb) in their red blood cells (RBCs).Haemoglobin is the part of the blood that carries oxygen to the cells of the body where it is used to release energy for the vital processes. All tissues of the body need oxygen. Hence without enough haemoglobin, and therefore reduced oxygen carrying power, tissues are starved of oxygen and energy, and cannot function properly. So how does someone get Thalassaemia?
